About Steam Cleaners
Steam cleaners are one of the most versatile appliances in the home and are invaluable in many household cleaning tasks. Using a constant supply of super heated steam (sometimes called “dry steam”) it sanitises household surfaces and releases dirt and grease which can be collected on a cotton cloth. They provide a method of cleaning that is quick, hygienic, and doesn’t use household chemicals.
A selection of cleaning heads supplied with the products provides superb results, cleaning carpets, fabrics, work surfaces and tiles; it can disinfect toilets and reach difficult to clean areas such as grouting between tiles and around taps and plugs. In the kitchen the super heated steam removes grease and grime from ovens, grills and a steam cleaner will defrost your freezer in less than half the normal time. Even windows benefit from steam cleaning with large glass surfaces cleaned quickly and with little effort with the squeegee tools.

Steam cleaners come in four types.
Steam chamber
Sealed boiler steam cleaners are operated by filling a boiler with water and switching on. The water in the boiler is pressurised by steam and a safety cap will prevent the boiler being opened in operation. The boiler pressure is maintained throughout the use of the water within the tank. If the tank need to be refilled it must be allowed to cool before the pressure cap can be released. However the steam is released at a continuous and pressure rate making cleaning tasks easy and rapid.
This type of cleaner benefits from continuous high pressure steam and have a large water capacity however they take time to heat up to operating temperature and cannot be re-filled until the unit has cooled down
Continuous Fill
Continuous refill steam cleaners fill a small boiler from a large water reservoir to which water can be added at any time. Continuous water fill is quicker to heat up and produce steam (as it has less water to heat at an one instance) but the volume of steam can reduce when the boiler is being replenished from the reservoir. All Simac steam cleaners are made to reduce this effect which can be very pronounced in models from some manufacturers.
Handheld steam cleaners and lightweight mops
These products have a limited water and steam capacity, They are quick to warm up but produce steam that is cooler and condenses more rapidly producing a wetter result. The quantity of steam is also reduced, however these products are ideal for small, quick cleaning jobs.
Steam Vacuum Cleaner
These products combine the benefits of steam cleaning with a vacuum cleaner, ideal for cleaning carpets and household fabrics. Each function can be used independently so the machine can be used as a conventional steam cleaner of vacuum cleaner, When both functions are used together it can remove even the most stuborn dirt.
Both steam cleaners have HEPA filters to remove 99.9% of particles from the air and the Triplo Simac EVT500 has a wet filtration system leading to even better removal of particles. The combination of the cleaning and sanitising effect of the steam cleaning and the high efficiency vacuum cleaning, without the use of chemicals, makes these machines a popular choice for those with respiratory conditions
Features to look for
Boiler pressure.
The higher the pressure the more steam will be available
Steam output;
Measured in grams per minute this measure gives a reliabl
e indication of the cleaning power especially when judged with the steam pressure. It measures the maximum amount of steam produced per minute. Variable Steam output which is available on some models allows you to select the steam output required for individual cleaning jobs
Steam pressure;
Measured in Bar (1 bar = atmospheric pressure) The pressure at which the steam is produced. The Higher the pressure the faster the steam will come out of the cleaner and the better it will clean.
Quick connection steam plugs.
Connecting different tools for particular jobs can be an important factor in making a steam cleaner easy to use and efficient. As connectors can be hot it is important that connections are quick and easy to use even when the steam cleaner is switched on. Steam temperature
Steam temperature of 110 120C at the point of contact sanitises surfaces and kills dust mites so it can help with asthma and allergy problems.
